What we call Inteletrack (Intelligent Electric Tractor) is an interesting piece of hardware that accomplishes different tasks simultaneously apart from being the main motorized bogie that moves the transportation cabins or pods forward.

   

One thing in particular was taken into account in the development of the Inteletrack: the fact that it has to change its trajectory, i.e. it can turn right and left if necessary.

Most elevated track systems do not have to worry about this because their vehicles usually run on a circuit that never changes its trajectory, i.e., in a loop.

Other systems, such as elevated trains, do change direction, but the change of direction is performed by the railway itself, which directly affects its design, which is more complex and difficult to maintain.

This combination of factors allows our system to evolve into a network that benefits from the modularity and simplicity of its guideway design and the autonomy of its intelligent tractor, which is able to plan a route and then execute it.

We call this tractor intelligent because it has an artificial intelligence driver (AID) that processes information provided by multiple sensors about speed, distance to other vehicles or stations as well as being in constant communication with the central control system so that it can make navigation decisions without human intervention.

Additionally, the various designs we are currently testing at different scales also aim to provide a very stable and smooth ride, similar to those currently used in roller coasters, through a series of carefully placed actuators that act as stabilizers.

In the last 10 years, we have developed several types of Inteletracks at different scales to test different aspects of their functionality.

From this we have learned that simplicity plays a decisive role in the viability of our system. Therefore, we are currently focusing on simplifying all our designs to the bare minimum, without neglecting the most important functions and always taking into account all the stakeholders involved.

Our topical work is centered on achieving the unerring interaction between the Inteletrack and the ACNS and the guideway. For that purpose we have built a scaled version of a guideway circuit where several Inteletracks have to interact with one another pursuing their own routes with minimal interference from one another and zero accidents.

All three systems will be evolved under a trial and error process, by means of scaled rough prototypes testing to detect opportunity areas and make all the necessary improvements before going to a bigger scales.
